Kevin Staley served with Mecklenburg EMS Agency (MEDIC) in Charlotte, North Carolina since June, 1990. On January 1, 2019 he retired at the rank of Deputy Director (since 2015) and was responsible for all emergency and nonemergency paramedic field response, 911 Communications Center operations, and emergency preparedness/tactical/special operations. From 2005-2015, Kevin served as Director of Education and Emergency Preparedness which included management of MEDIC’s training, education and simulation programs, quality improvement and all disaster, emergency management, and homeland security related programs. From 1997-2004, Kevin served as EMS Operations Manager. Kevin holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Certificate in Community Preparedness and Disaster Management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also credentialed internationally as a Certified Emergency Manager and holds the Executive Emergency Management certification with the State of North Carolina. He has been certified as a paramedic for over thirty years with experience both on the streets of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, North Carolina and in an emergency department/trauma center in Broward County, Florida. Since 2006, Kevin has been an active part-time faculty member of the Graduate School at UNC-Charlotte teaching foundations of emergency management, principles and practice of disaster management, and homeland security & terrorism in the University’s Master of Public Administration program. Kevin currently serves appointments as a commissioner on the NC Emergency Response Commission and as a member of the NC Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council. Previously, Kevin served on the National Advisory Council to the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) (2018-2021) and was appointed by the United States Secretary of Transportation to the National Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council and served as chair of the education and workforce committee (2008-2010). . itae
